SHRM Sponsors Fortune’s 2009 Women’s Summit

(Editorial Note: Today’s blog post was provided by Mary Kaylor, SHRM Public Affairs Manager)

As part of our partnership with Fortune Magazine, SHRM is one of five gold sponsors of this year’s “Most Powerful Women Summit,” which takes place September 14 - 16 in San Diego, CA.  More than 400 of the most prominent women leaders in business, philanthropy, government, education, and the arts will participate in this exclusive “by invitation-only” and “women-only” event.  Out of the 400 women, nearly 20 are CHROs.

As a gold sponsor, SHRM will send three executive-level delegates to represent the HR profession: SHRM’s China Gorman; Johnna Torsone, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Pitney Bowes, Inc.; and Lisa Peters, Chief Human Resources Officer at The Bank of New York Mellon.  Lisa also was SHRM’s 2008 Human Capital Leader of the Year winner.  Separately, Fortune invited SHRM Board Member Gabrielle Toledano, Chief Human Resources Officer for EA, Inc.  So, SHRM will be well represented.

The 2009 Summit theme is “Betting on the Future,” and Warren Buffett (the only man invited) and Condoleezza Rice will be this year’s keynote speakers.  Three timely HR-related panel discussions will be held:  Where Women Lead”; “The Historic CEO Handoff”; and “Thriving Through Adversity.”

The Summit’s homepage displays SHRM’s logo, as will all conference materials and signage.  SHRM will distribute collateral materials to attendees and create a special event specifically designed to engage conference attendees and raise awareness for the importance of human resources.  In addition, SHRM will host a special reception for the CHROs attending the Summit.

Stay tuned for updates!
